Ingredients

0.75 oz Lime Juice
2 oz Tequila
0.5 oz Triple Sec
1 wedge Lime
1 sprig Dried Hibiscus Flowers
1 oz Hibiscus Salt
1 oz Hibiscus Syrup

Instructions

To make the Hibiscus Syrup:
  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water and dried hibiscus flowers.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture steep for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  4. Strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer into another saucepan, discarding the hibiscus flowers.
  5. Add the sugar to the strained liquid and place the saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture has thickened slightly, about 5 minutes.
  7. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool completely. You can store it in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
To make the Hibiscus Margarita:
  1. If desired, rim a glass with hibiscus salt or regular salt. To do this, rub the rim of the glass with a lime wedge, then dip it into the salt to coat the rim.
  2. Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  3. In a shaker, combine the tequila, hibiscus syrup, fresh lime juice, and triple sec or Cointreau.
  4. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well until chilled, about 15-20 seconds.
  5. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over the ice.
  6. Garnish your Hibiscus Margarita with a lime wedge and, if desired, a dried hibiscus flower for an extra touch of elegance.
